A Post About Rick Ross

I couldn't even think of a clever title for this post so I just call it what it is. I'm making my rounds on the net and came across this little article about Rick Ross's latest video shoot. It always amazes me when rappers rap about bullshit like money, cars, clothes, and hoes and then turn around and have some mildly thought-provoking shit to say. But then when you call them on the bullshit they rap about they get all offended. The dichotomy is fascinating. For instance, Rick Ross.

Rick Ross raps about being a cocaine kingpin. Dude even said in a song that Manuel Noriega owed him "a hundred favors." Yet, he got aired as being a correctional officer in his days before he apparently started "pushing major weight" and getting FBI Most Wanted list druglords in his back pocket. Of course Rick Ross says that all the pictures and documents of him being a CO are fabricated and falsified.

But then Rick Ross turns around, in this interview, and goes in to the more conscientous side of being a druglord. Really? Really Rick Ross? The video he was shooting was for a video called "Rich Off Cocaine" where all he talks about is all the shit he buys with his cocaine money. But in the midst of all 48 bars he spits in the song, there are TWO that actually have a hint of humanity and suddenly he wants to be "Mr. Introspective". Basically, it amazes me how rappers can present themselves one way, which is generally not the way they really are, and then just kinda do and say whatever the fuck they want and get away with it.

Sorry if you read all that. I should've warned you it was a rant that was going absolutely nowhere lol! But it made you think though, right?
